GLENCORE and PASAR continues to strengthen local economy by topping importation and exportation in containers thru the Cebu International Port (CIP) in 2023

Last June 14, 2024 (Friday) PASAR was awarded the distinction of being the Top 1 exporter and Top 3 importer (in terms of volume) of containerized shipment by OPASCOR, CIP’s Port Operator, during their Appreciation Night Ceremony which was held at Radison Blu Cebu.

Back in 2017, Glencore thru Pasar initiated a project called the Cebu Transhipment Activity in which Pasar would import raw materials and export products/by-products in containerized shipments thru Cebu instead of the usual direct bulk/breakbulk shipments. The project annually brings in 700-800 containers thru Cebu.

The huge volume of shipments was able to strengthen the local economy by directly adding revenue to the government-owned International Port and employing a lot of local businesses from brokers, barge operators, arrastre/stevedores, truckers, equipment owners and surveyors to name a few.

The award is a recognition and testament to Glencore and PASAR’s mission to provide long-term growth, improvement, and opportunity for all our stakeholders, including the community, government agencies and businesses that drive the local economy.
